The major tourist attraction of this circuit is perhaps the Selous Game Reserve. It is among the only protected areas in Tanzania which offers game hunting through a number of private hunting concessions. Covering an area of 50,000 sq. km, it is also largest faunal reserve in the world and a birding paradise. Udzungwa National Park which is part of the Udzungwa Mountains is home to large primate species, and so is the Mahale Mountains National Park.
Most accessible park in the circuit is the Mikumi National Park through which the highly-debated A-7 Highway passes which runs from Dar Es Salaam to Iringa. Ruaha National Park which is the largest national park in Tanzania covering an area of 20,226 sq. km is contrastingly among the least visited national parks in the country. The Great Ruaha River crosses through the park where the animals of the territory tend to congregate which make them easier to spot.
