2 Days Mkomazi National Park Safari – Tanzania’s Hidden Wilderness Experience

Discover one of Tanzania’s most untouched and underrated safari destinations on this 2-day Mkomazi National Park safari. Located between Mount Kilimanjaro and the Pare Mountains, Mkomazi offers a rare blend of dramatic landscapes, exclusive wildlife encounters, and authentic wilderness far from the busy northern circuit crowds. This short safari is ideal for travelers seeking something unique, quiet, and conservation-focused, either as a standalone trip or combined with Kilimanjaro climbing, cycling tours, or a beach extension in Zanzibar.

Why Choose a 2 Days Mkomazi Safari?
Mkomazi National Park is a true hidden gem. Unlike Serengeti or Ngorongoro, the park receives very few visitors, giving you a private safari feel and excellent photographic opportunities.

Safari highlights include:
Endangered black rhinos in a protected sanctuary
Rare African wild dogs
Large herds of giraffes, zebras, oryx, eland, and buffalo
Over 450 bird species, perfect for bird lovers
Stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Pare Mountains
Peaceful, uncrowded game drives
This 2-day itinerary allows enough time to explore the park deeply without rushing, making it perfect for travelers with limited time.

2 Days Mkomazi National Park Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha / Moshi – Mkomazi National Park
After an early breakfast, you’ll depart from Arusha or Moshi with your professional safari guide in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser. Enjoy a scenic drive through Maasai lands and small villages as you head toward Mkomazi National Park.
Upon arrival, you’ll enter the park and begin your afternoon game drive. Mkomazi’s open savannah and acacia woodland make wildlife spotting rewarding and relaxed. You may encounter giraffes moving gracefully across the plains, zebras and antelope grazing, and predators resting in the shade.
In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay under the African stars.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Return to Arusha / Moshi
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive, the best time to spot active wildlife. Early morning light creates excellent conditions for photography, with chances to see predators returning from night hunts and herbivores gathering to feed.
After breakfast at the camp, enjoy a final short game drive before exiting the park. You’ll then drive back to Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the late afternoon.
